SLJ's editors selected the best books of 2019.

A list of great reading suggestions including notable social studies books, STEM
books, oustanding science books, and diverse kids' books. A motivational message by the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature appears in the “Reading Without Walls” section.


Classics for Kids
: Another list by the reputable Common Sense Media group listing classic titles not to be missed. Also included are bibliographies such as “50 Books All Kids Should Read Before They’re 12” as well as articles to guide parents including “How to Raise a Reader”.


Summer Reading List: This bibliography is accompanied by book discussion prompts to start meaningful conversations between parent and child. Along with reviews of each title in the “parents say” and “kids say” sections, Common Sense Media also provides lists of best movies, games, apps, websites, tv, etc. to guide parents.
