The GVS Blood Drive wasn’t just well-attended—it was record-tying. Seventy pints were collected, matching our highest total from 2017, and offering a striking reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose.
That number reflects not just the donors, but the dozens of people behind the scenes who made the day run seamlessly. Parent Co-Chairs Devon Metz and Preethi Rajan were at the core of the effort—organizing, hosting, and ensuring that every volunteer and visitor felt welcomed. From the homemade snacks to the warm conversation, their presence shaped the tone of the day.

They were joined by a team of parent volunteers who staffed tables, supported registration, and created a festive, comfortable environment for all. This year’s 8th grade stepped up in similar fashion, welcoming guests and tallying participants—a task they took seriously and with pride.

And then there are the often-unsung heroes who keep the wheels turning. The Kitchen staff provided the much-loved oatmeal raisin cookies that have become something of a tradition at this event. The Facilities team handled the setup and breakdown with their usual care and precision, making sure every detail was attended to before, during, and after the drive. And the Business Office lent support throughout the planning process, ensuring logistics were in place and things stayed on track.

Posters from the 1st through 3rd grade lined the walls—bold, colorful reminders that even our Lower School students have a role to play in encouraging compassion and care. The purpose was simple: to help others. And because of the many hands and hearts involved, that purpose was fulfilled—one drop at a time.
