GVS proudly celebrated the accomplishments and growth of its 5th Grade students during the annual Moving Up Ceremony, a cherished tradition that marks the transition from Lower School to Upper School.

The ceremony recognized a class that has demonstrated remarkable growth throughout the year—academically, socially, and personally. Addressing students and families, Head of Lower School Delphine Michaud reflected on this important milestone, describing it as a bridge between childhood and adolescence. She encouraged students to embrace the increasing independence and responsibility that come with Upper School while continuing to hold onto the joy, curiosity, and sense of wonder that define childhood.

The program featured reflections from four student speakers—Sloane C., Valentina R., Max K., and Georgia S.—who shared memories, lessons, and experiences from their time in Lower School.
Several students were also recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the Green Vale community.

The Class Five Boat Cup Award, presented in connection with Green Vale's longstanding sailboat-building tradition, was awarded to Corby D. and Madison S.
The Gardiner Award for Craftsmanship, which recognizes exceptional workmanship, attention to detail, and dedication throughout the sailboat-building process, was presented to Sammy S.
The 5th Grade Citizenship Award, recognizing students who have made notable contributions to the quality of life at Green Vale through leadership, cooperation, individuality, and sound judgment, was awarded to Ellie M., Miles S., Gretchen v.S., and Isabella S.
The Weed Memorial Prize for Academic Excellence, awarded to students who demonstrated the highest level of academic achievement in Grade 5, was presented to Stella V., Clara F., and Jackson S.
The Buckley Award for Effort and Achievement, which honors students whose perseverance, dedication, and consistent effort exemplify the spirit of the award, was presented to Andreas B. and Rebecca V.

As each student crossed the stage, the moment symbolized more than a move from one division to the next. It celebrated years of learning, friendship, discovery, and growth while signaling the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
Green Vale congratulates the entire 5th Grade and looks forward to all they will accomplish as members of the Upper School community.
