5th Grade Explores History at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center

Fifth Grade recently took a profound and meaningful journey through history with a visit to the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center in Glen Cove. Through guided tours and thoughtful discussions, students explored the lasting impact of the Holocaust, deepening their understanding of this pivotal moment in history.

A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to hear from Holocaust survivor Gilda Zirinsky, whose firsthand testimony provided a deeply personal perspective on resilience, courage, and the importance of remembrance. Her story brought history to life in a way that no textbook could, offering students a chance to reflect on the human impact of intolerance and injustice.

This experience extended far beyond the classroom, inspiring students to think critically about empathy, moral courage, and the responsibility we all share in standing up for others. As they returned to Green Vale, they carried with them not just historical knowledge, but a renewed commitment to kindness, respect, and the power of individual action.
