Embedded in the School's mission and motto is the importance of character formation in our students. The character education program at Green Vale is the intrinsic thread that ties together the different school divisions and course offerings. This connectiveness is based on the concepts of respect responsibility, caring and citizenship. We recognize that this focus on character is accomplished in partnership with parents and that much character formation comes from adult modeling both at home and at school. Exposure to character education is pervasive in countless informal and formal settings as part of the Green Vale program.
Green Vale's long educational tradition has been to offer a rigorous, challenging and well-rounded curriculum, and to embrace the loftiest of academic expectations for students. Green Vale is also recognized for the attention given to creating a nurturing environment in which habits of both heart and mind are cultivated. Intellectual, artistic, and athletic experiences which promote honesty, responsibility, confidence, and respect for others are fundamental to the school’s mission. Graduates of Green Vale are accepted by some of the nation's most academically elite institutions.
When asked what he’d like people to know about the School, Stephen Watters, Headmaster since 1995, had this to say: “Green Vale has outstanding teachers who work in extraordinary facilities, focused on one primary goal, and that is to educate children to be curious, respectful, responsible, caring, and connected. If we can teach a child what it means to be a good student and a good person, then we know that we have provided a lifelong foundation for growth."
