Academics: A Foundation for Life
Parents often tell us how much they appreciate the loving and nurturing atmosphere that prevails in each of our school divisions' small classes. Green Vale has a long history of recognizing the importance of early childhood education in establishing how children see themselves as learners and in developing linguistic awareness.
Guided by their teachers, students in the younger classes are allowed to mature at their own pace, finding challenge and success in a variety of classroom venues such as the science, writing, math, or dramatic play learning center. Sparked by early intellectual, social, and emotional experiences, children learn to see each other and their teachers as learning resources.
By kindergarten, students are well prepared to assume greater intellectual and creative challenges in a curriculum that includes language arts, math, social studies, art, and technology. Indicative of Green Vale's emphasis on teaching the fundamentals, formal handwriting instruction commences in kindergarten and continues through third grade.
