Building Green Vale's Future

In 2007, The Green Vale School unveiled plans to meet the priority needs of the strategic plan initiated in 2004. Speaking to GVS Parents on May 3, 2007, Board of Trustees President Allen Parker explained the case for the current capital projects and fundraising.

"Our two important initiatives -- to hire and retain the best possible
teachers and to enhance the school's facilities --
are both achievable and the appropriate next steps in furthering
Green Vale's mission and the educational experience of our children."

I. Endowment for Faculty

• Sustain and build Green Vale's endowment by at least $6,000,000 to increase the School's financial strength

•  Keep tuition levels stable and avoid increases in class size

• Suppport merit-based compensation to retain talented faculty and attract the best teachers

• Enable Green Vale to stay competitive in the salary marketplace with local independent and public schools

• Meet critical needs due to fluctuations in demographics, enrollment size and economic climate

• Employ investment management and judicious budgeting that will set the foundation for long term stability
  

II. Enhancement of the Green Vale Campus

       a. Build Multi-Purpose Facility

• Provide modern athletic and fitness space
• Provide flexible space for health & wellness programs that will enhance curricular focus on teaching children about making healthy choices and meeting day-to-day challenges in life
• Provide space for all-school programs as well as large community gatherings and events

       b. Renovate Fourth & Fifth Grade Classrooms

• Increase six classrooms in size by 50%
• Add flexible teaching areas that will accomodate small group learning and special projects
• Enable use of new technology throughout Lower School East building

       c. Renovate Music Rooms, Craft Room, Outdoor Amphitheater, Playing Fields

• Create new choral and band rooms with flexible space for both large and small musical groups
• Modernize craft room
• Restore the amphitheater as an attractive and functional outdoor arena for school gatherings and instruction
• Build and renovate playing fields for baseball, softball, and field hockey
