Green Vale Traditions

Since Green Vale’s earliest days, “Blue and Gold” has been one of the school’s most cherished traditions. Students are assigned a color and retain their blue or gold affiliation for life. Children of alums “inherit” their color from their parent(s). Competitions are held throughout the year, culminating in a school-wide Blue and Gold Field Day when students, parents and alumni join together to defend their color’s honor.

Fifth grade students work all year long in their crafts class building a large, wooden sailboat that, per tradition, they enter in the 5th Grade Boat Race each June. The day is always a memorable one.

Graduating student plaques made in ceramics class decorate the halls and dining room at Green Vale. Each child’s name and year of graduation are part of the individually styled pieces of art.

Family style lunch is one of the Green Vale traditions that, more than any other, sets the stage for a well informed relationship between faculty and students. There’s nothing quite like casual conversation and sharing a laugh -- while enjoying a good meal -- to bring people of all ages together.

  • Ninth Grade Trip
  • First Grade Tea
  • Class plays each year involve all students from kindergarten through ninth grade in the production of a musical, comedy or drama every single year.  The opportunity for creativity is matched only by the sense of pride they display as they confidently perform before their peers, teachers and families. The ninth grade production is always a grand and cherished memory for students.
  • Winter and Spring Musical Concerts and Art Shows
  • Community Service Projects for all ages are ongoing, each and every year of a Green Vale student’s education.
