Exploring Ancient Egypt at the Met
In conjunction with their study of ancient Egypt, fifth grade students at Green Vale visited the Egyptian Wing in the Metropolitan Museum of Art last week. After a docent-led tour, students broke up into small groups and rotated through different galleries to complete an iPad project that led them to focus on just a few of the 26,000 ancient Egyptian artififacts in the Museum's collection.
Designed by classroom and art teachers, the iPad project's tasks included writing, drawing and photographing the "answers" to questions relative to temple grafitti, wall carvings, sun disks, religous symbolism, mummy cases, plant and animal life, ceramics and architecture. The "trip back in time" won't be forgotten!
