Over Two Thousand Books Collected for Giblyn Elementary in Freeport
January 29, 2013
Students at The Green Vale School in Old Brookville learned that the Leo F. Giblyn Elementary School in Freeport suffered major storm damage during Hurricane Sandy and that almost all of the School’s library and classroom books were lost. To help replace their books, members of Green Vale's Interact Club ran a week-long book drive and collected well over 1,000 books. From picture books and easy readers to novels and textbooks, the books should make good reading for Giblyn’s kindergarten through sixth grade students. They will be delivered early next week.
Update: On February 7, 2013, over 2,000 books were delivered to Giblyn Elementary!

Interact Club members meet weekly during their lunch period to work on service projects suggested by the Locust Valley Rotary Club that sponsors their club, and on projects they create themselves. On January 29, 2013 they took a quick break from sorting some of the 1000+ books collected to smile for this photo.
