Green Vale Select Chorus: open to grades 4-7
Registration for the Green Vale Select Chorus is now open. This is an opportunity for highly motivated singers in grades 4-7 to experience choral singing at an exceptionally high level. The choir will rehearse twice per week and have a number of performance opportunities throughout the year, including regional choral festivals. Last year, the chorus was awarded a Gold rating at the NYSSMA Majors Festival.
Singers will receive thorough vocal training and learn musical artistry by engaging with challenging, quality repertoire. They will receive in-depth instruction in music literacy. They will also experience the powerful bond of community that arises from shared passion, artistic collaboration, and hard work towards a common goal.
Requirements for membership are as follows. Members must:
- have a high level of interest and motivation
- be able to match pitch reliably in the treble range
- be in attendance at rehearsal regularly
- have demonstrated, in school choruses, the ability to be focused in a rehearsal setting
The year will be divided into two seasons: Winter (late October-January) and Spring (February-May). Cost for EACH season is $250 per student (not including the cost of trips). Students may elect to participate in one or both seasons.
Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays (4:30-5:30 pm) and Fridays (7:45-8:20 am).
