The 87th annual graduation ceremony of The Green Vale School took place on Wednesday, June 10 at the School's campus in Old Brookville. On stage to present diplomas was Stephen Watters, Headmaster; David Vachris, Director of Upper School; Allen Parker, President of the Board of Trustees; and Linda Gardiner, Assistant Head of School. The benediction was provided by Rev. David J. Ware. Chase Schoonmaker was elected by his peers to deliver a commencement speech. This year's winner of the Derby Medal, the highest honor given to a graduating student, was Marielle Lafaire. Oliver Finley was presented with the Benjamin Farnsworth VanderPoel Memorial Award. The Joseph E. Crowell Bowl for highest academic average in grade 9 was awarded to Chris Merrill and Julia Pascale. Headmaster's Awards were presented to the following students: Christian Fitzgerald, Claudia Ratner, Elizabeth Kelter, and Nancy Toher Hawkins '73. The William H. Pinakiewicz Award was given to Marielle Lafaire. Keely Conway and Walter Gahagan were awarded the Thomas M. Bancroft, Jr. Citizenship and the Buckley Award was given to Janice Havasy and Joseph Pezza. Missy Quick received the North Country Community Association Citizenship Award. The Robert Fenwick Jackson Bowl was presented to Gonzalo Mocorrea, Julia Pascale and Spencer Cameron Wells. The John C. Green Bowl for highest academic average in grade 8 was awarded to Gonzalo Mocorrea, Mariella Rutigliano and Madison Vachris.
