The Green Vale School's highest priority is to ensure that students graduate with a superior academic preparation, one which will provide a foundation for a lifetime of learning. Self-discipline, motivation, and dedication to excellence are attitudes the School seeks to inculcate in all its students as they participate in the wide variety of learning experiences. Ethical behavior, good judgment, compassion, kindness and consideration towards others are emphasized. Collectively, the faculty, parents, school, administration and Board of Trustees are responsible for the education of Green Vale students. The ongoing and meaningful dialogue they have, and their mutual respect for each other, allows them to achieve this goal.
Embedded in the School's mission and motto is the importance of character formation in our students. The character education program at Green Vale is the intrinsic thread that ties together the different school divisions and course offerings. This connectiveness is based on the concepts of respect, responsibility, caring and citizenship. We recognize that this focus on character is accomplished in partnership with parents and that much character formation comes from adult modeling both at home and at school. Exposure to character education is pervasive in countless informal and formal settings as part of the Green Vale program.
The Green Vale School embraces the importance of encouraging and fostering a diversity of ideas and perspectives as part of the learning process. In a community where respect is a guiding principle, learning is enhanced when a variety of curricular ideas and student perspectives are present and appreciated. Therefore, recruiting, welcoming, and maintaining families and staff members of varying backgrounds, races and cultures, promote a sharing of experiences and viewpoints. When working together, respect and diversity reinforce the School's mission and strengthen its sense of community.
